Anne Gosden (nee Ross)

May 12, 1936 to December 29, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Gosden (nee Ross) on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the age of 88. Anne emigrated to Canada from Glasgow, Scotland in 1966. She passed away peacefully with family present at Bowmanville Hospital, after a brief but valiant fight against cancer. Beloved wife of Frank Gosden (predeceased). Dear sister of John (predeceased), Jessie Wallace (nee Ross), Alec, George (predeceased), and twin brother Bill (predeceased). Cherished aunt of Deborah Hamade and husband Jody, Jim Wallace and wife Joanne, great-aunt of Alanna Wallace and husband Anup Mistry, and great-great aunt of Rohan Mistry, as well as other nieces and nephews here and abroad. Anne was a proud Canadian, while still celebrating her Scottish heritage. She worked for many years, and eventually retired from IBM in 1991, where she was a true trailblazer as the only women in her department at the time. She was an avid animal lover, especially when it came to cats. She also loved music, performing and playing games of any description. Anne was very social and made friends easily wherever she went. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends from Big Cedar, Leacock Retirement Lodge in Orillia and Taunton Mills in Whitby. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring, on a date to be determined, at Mundell Funeral Home, Orillia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through the Mundell Funeral Home to Canadian Diabetes Association or Comfie Cat Shelter, Orillia.

When death’s dark stream I ferry o’er,

A time that surely shall come;

In Heaven itself, I’ll ask no more,

Than just a Highland welcome.
