Bernice Josephine Smith

SMITH, Bernice Josephine (Jachymek), our beloved Mom, Grandma, and Auntie, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Bernice was born in Hamilton in 1937 to Aniela and Adam Jachymek and sister to Helen (Frank). In 1961, she married her perfect match, Brian Smith, and together they created a loving home and family: Mary Lynn (Jamie), Gary, and Michael (Betty). She adored her incredible, outstanding, perfect grandchildren Patrice, Carter, Patrick, Elizabeth, Iris, Lindsay, and Lily. Bernice was a social worker, a champion of the underdog and lover of all things sparkly. She was a dedicated volunteer for Telecare in Orillia and the St. Vincent de Paul food bank and was a parishioner at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. We would like to thank Mom’s nieces Nancy and Allice for their extra special love and support, and the wonderful staff at Birchmere Retirement Residence with extra thanks to Vera and Tatiana.

We take comfort in thinking of Mom and Dad together again.

A funeral mass will be held at the Guardian Angels Church, 115 West St., N., Orillia, on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 2 pm.   A reception to follow at the Mundell Funeral Home in Orillia. If desired, donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Guardian Angels, Orillia would be appreciated.
