It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bertan Larry Wilson on October 24, 2024, in his 75th year. Faithful husband to the late Marlene Hazel (nee Moore). Loving father to Carmen (Matthew) Black of Orillia, John Wilson of Orillia, and Roberto “Paul” Wilson (predeceased). Proud grandfather to Kayden, Kieghan and Maci-Mia. Dearly missed by sister Sharon (David, predeceased) Webster of Huntsville. Fondly remembered by niece and nephew Kelly and John Webster. Predeceased by parents Bertan Stanley Wilson and Alice Marguerite (nee Pegg).
Known to most as Larry, he was born in Collingwood, Ontario to a farm family. Throughout his childhood, he grew up on many farms in the Simcoe and Grey County area. Larry attended the University of Toronto where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. He then founded the Washago Pharmacy, practicing in Central and Northern Ontario, and even Manitoba.
Larry was passionately interested in both scuba diving and snorkeling, frequently traveling to Belize to enjoy the reefs and relaxation.
Special thanks to the doctors and staff of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital and Helping Hands’ Brechin Respite Centre for their wonderful care and support. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Mort Seymour and Dorothy Cook for their support to Larry during his illness, and for their help to the family at this difficult time. Arrangements have been entrusted with Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia. Cremation to take place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to Parkinson Canada or the charity of your choice.
