It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, “Bob” Robert Slessor Storey on January 10, 2025 at Hospice Simcoe, at the age of 88.
Bob was born on August 31, 1936 in Oro Township, Simcoe County, to his parents “Bus” Russell Storey and Alberta Storey (nee Slessor)(both predeceased). Bob was the eldest, proud brother to John Storey (Karen and Cecile, predeceased) and Sylvia Beard (predeceased)(David).
Bob will be forever remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Marilyn Storey (nee Tennant), who was by his side every step of the way, as well as their sons, Kevin (Lisa) and Brian, who are each representative of Bob and what he stood for. Bob would tell you his proudest accomplishment was being “Papa” to his granddaughters, Emma and Kaitlin, whom he loved dearly and never missed an opportunity to tell them. We would be remiss if we did not also thank his sister-in-law Eileen Langman (Robert, predeceased) and brother-in-law Glenn Tennant (Gay), who have always been just a phone call away. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
As a young man, Bob trained and worked as a licensed electrician, and retired in 1996 after working for years at H.R.C., Orillia and A.O.C., Edgar. Outside of work, Bob put his skills to use while helping Kevin and his dear friend Eric Waugh (Jennifer) in the wood shop, or spending time in his own shop making beautiful, stained-glass pieces. Bob also had many happy memories at his fish camp he owned with close friends in Biscotasing.
Most of all, Bob was perhaps best known for having a dog glued to his side, and sneaking them treats. Bob’s presence is unforgettable, not just for his height (5’16” if you asked him), but for his sense of humour, his warmhearted nature, and for always supporting his loved ones and their endeavours. We will always treasure the many days we spent with him at the cottage watching the sunsets on Prophet’s Sandy Beach, Lake Simcoe, while sitting in chairs handcrafted by him.
Bob’s family send their heartfelt thanks to the special staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe, the incredible nursing team at Bayshore, and Doctor Geoffrey Grieve, for their genuine dedication to their work and the people they care for. Your help will never be forgotten.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Mundell Funeral Home, Orillia. A celebration of Bob’s life will follow on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mundell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s-St. James’ Cemetery, Orillia.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s memory to Hospice Simcoe at https://hospicesimcoe.ca/donation/
