Frederick George Ollerhead

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a great man, in his 78th year, known to many as “Skife”.

Fred passed away unexpectedly while on vacation in Mexico on December 16, 2024 due to complications resulting from pneumonia. 

Beloved husband and companion of Anita (Morton/Zeidler). Cherished father of Sherry (Paul) and Dean Ollerhead of Newfoundland. Stepfather of Laura Emms (Ryan) and Kevin Zeidler (Shannon). Adored Poppy to Katie McNeil of Nova Scotia. Devastated is his puppy Lucy, who was always by his side.

Predeceased by his parents Annie (Boone) and Frederick Ollerhead. Brother of Max (his twin), Terence, Paul (predeceased) and Patricia (predeceased). 

Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on July 25, 1947. He will be extremely missed by his Newfoundland buddies, many from St. Anthony. He spent most of his life on the Rock and always considered it home. In 2011 he met Anita in Florida and moved to Orillia in 2012 where he made many friends, with his outgoing personality and ability to entertain everyone who met him. His motto was “don’t worry be happy”.

Heartfelt thanks to Elaine Steele for accompanying his wife to Mexico in time to say goodbye and to his brother Max for being with him in his final days.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the Army, Navy Club in Orillia from 1 – 4pm. Come honour his memory, have a drink and share your stories.
