Georgette Verner

Passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side at Mariposa House Hospice, on October 27, 2024, in her 84th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Patrick Verner (Pat), in their 64th year of marriage. Loving and devoted mother of Patrick Dean Verner (Sherry), Paul David Verner, Daniel Owen Verner (Linda) and Kristi Laura Verner (Gary). Proud grandmother of Emilie (John), Elizabeth (Nick), Cole (Megan) & great grandmother of Peter and Theodore. Cherished daughter of the late George & Dorothy Kirk. Dear sister of Mary Jane Leewis (Keith) and the late Barbara Dixon (Carl). Dear sister in law of Ross (Betty), Bob (predeceased), Greg (Lynn) and Bruce (Joyce). She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong  friends.

Georgette will be remembered for her passion for her many artistic endeavours especially the many styles and types of painting. Georgette was a lifelong Anglican, as a member of choirs and taking active roles as a youth. She was active as a member of Girl Guides of Canada and enjoyed leading Kristi’s Brownie troop. Georgette, with Pat, took great pleasure supporting their children in their various activities including sports activities, including hockey and soccer. She was very active in many community events. She was always involved with her children’s activities in particular the Girl Guides of Canada as a Tawnie Owl for 7- and 8-year-olds.

The family wishes to thank CarePartners, Helping Hands, and the staff and volunteers of Mariposa House Hospice for their utmost care and compassion shown to Georgette and her family.

Visitation will be held at Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia, on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 1:00pm until the time of Service at 2:00pm in the Chapel. A time of reception and fellowship will take place immediately following the service at Mundell Funeral Home.

Special thanks to Dr. Karim Dharssi, Dr Amanda Gardhouse, paramed and all the individuals that made it possible for Georgette to live independently with dignity in her own home. Memorial donations to the Mariposa House Hospice would be gratefully appreciated.
