With profound sadness, John passed away with family by his side after a long fight with glioblastoma, at Mariposa House Hospice in Severn, ON on December 10, 2024. Beloved husband of Susan Russell, married for 15 years. Loving father of Tanya Sullivan (Steve), Ryan Russell (Shannon), Scott Rumgay (Amanda). Proud grandfather of Dakota, Caleb, Emma, Jayden, Charlie, Jocelyn, Daisy, and Van (predeceased). John is predeceased by his parents, Helen Russell (nee Clarke) and John Hamilton Russell, of Toronto ON. Brother of Margaret Smith (Wayne), Linda Hannath (Bill) and Glen Russell (Joyce). 

John will be greatly missed by family, friends and colleagues. John was a long-haul trucker for about 40 years, many years worked at Garry Mercer Trucking. John loved to fish and spend time with Sue at their home in Florida. 

 The family wishes to thank those who offered support and care to John, most importantly Lori and Sean O’Neill, Bayshore Care, Paramed, and Nurse Practitioner Joanne Matte. If desired, memorial donations to the Mariposa House Hospice would be appreciated. 

 Arrangements have been made with Mundell Funeral Home Services. Cremation will be taking place.
