Ruth Margaret Edmonds

With sadness we said goodbye to our mom Ruth, at Mariposa Hospice House, Orillia, on February 18, 2025. Mom was in her 94th year. Predeceased by husband Paul, parents Henry (Harry) and Ruth Day, and brother Warde. Lovingly remembered by sister in law Cherry Day of Toronto, children Paul (Myrle) of Whitby, Sharon (George) of Bancroft, Louise (James) of Lake St. Peter, Stephen (Patricia) of Orillia, grandchildren Matthew, Stephanie (Christopher), Alison (Neil), Robert, Jeffery (Lisa), Michael (Laurie), Peter (Jennifer), David (Dera-Lynn), Alexander (Stephanie), Nicholas, Cameron, and 14 great grandchildren, all who have cherished memories of shared times at the cottage on Lake Simcoe, and of enthusiastic involvement in their lives, of which Mom took great interest.

Mom loved her life, church, family, and friends, her music, bridge, tennis, and books, and her hospital volunteer work. Mom especially loved her canoe trips, fishing afternoons and wonderful travels with our Dad. Together, Mom and Dad hosted ski parties, sharing joy and music, with Dad playing his banjo while Mom accompanied him on piano. They loved their special Orillia friends.

Mom declined slowly in the past few months, remaining forever grateful to her devoted caregivers Mae, Mita, Tess and Asha, and to the caring and compassionate staff at Mariposa Hospice House.

Family and friends will be received at Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia, on Sunday March 9, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Guardian Angels Church on Monday March 10, at 10:00am, with lunch to follow in the church hall. Ruth will rest at St. Michael's Cemetery, Orillia.
